Currently, access is through a photocopied version held by Norfolk Museums Service at The Royal Norfolk Regimental Museum in the Shirehall, Market Avenue, Norwich. In the 1990s an index to the 15,000 names was produced. In 2006/7 Brigadier M Thorne undertook a substantial study of the book, providing a summary of contents which illustrated the potential within the data for looking at the impact on certain battalions on certain days or over different years, types of wounds and sickness and their frequency, general health issues, numbers of POW’s, most frequently used hospitals etc. What became clear was that if the record was on a database it would be a very valuable research tool.
